Spring Veliky Novgorod

Spring Veliky Novgorod

Every year we certainly discover several new Russian cities. Veliky Novgorod was added to the list in the spring of 2024. The main point of the May trips was St. Petersburg, so I'll tell you how to get to Novgorod from there. By the way, it's fast and very comfortable. Just two hours on the swallow and now you are in an ancient city.

Next to the station on one side of the street there is a good cafe "Gourmetto", and on the other side there is a confectionery "Fairy Tale" with unrealistically delicious pastries (chosen according to reviews).

In the first we had breakfast, and in the second we had dinner.
On the day of our trip to Veliky Novgorod, the weather was cloudy, it was raining, so our attention was attracted by unusual double bicycles with awnings. It seemed like a great opportunity to move around the park and the territory of the ancient Kremlin. The price is biting. Half an hour - 600 rubles. But we decided to try to ride.

In the end, our patience was only enough for 20 minutes, since it is quite difficult to drive even into a small hill due to the bulkiness of the structure. In general, I do not advise it, it is not worth it.
The main attraction of the city is the Novgorod Kremlin, built several centuries ago.

Actually, we came here to see it. When in 2024 you enter the territory beyond the gate, on which the date of the city's origin is engraved - 859 – you feel special feelings – as if you broke into the past on a time machine.

By the way, entrance to the Kremlin is free.
On the spacious square inside the museum complex there is a monument "The Millennium of Russia", and opposite it is St. Sophia Cathedral. The most attentive ones have probably already guessed that this is the very place that is depicted on the five-ruble bill.

A small bus with an audio guide constantly runs through the territory of the Kremlin, taking a ride in which you will learn many interesting facts about this historical complex in 15-20 minutes.

An adult ticket costs 300 rubles, a child ticket is free.

There is another unusual, curious art object here. Monument to the Novgorod boy Onfim, who lived in the XIII century. He is the author of several birch bark letters found by archaeologists during excavations.

Veliky Novgorod is a clean, tidy city. It is very pleasant to be in it. It is definitely worth visiting at least once.
