Nizhny Novgorod: The Melody of two rivers
Nizhny Novgorod: The Melody of two rivers
We went to Nizhny Novgorod in the autumn of this year, 2024. In fact, it turned out to be much easier to get there than I thought. We got to the Vostochny railway station from the Moscow region quite quickly, since the station is located on the new district line – the MCD.
The travel time is about 4 hours. During this time, you pass such famous cities as Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Vladimir, Kovrov, Vyazniki, Gorokhovets, Dzerzhinsk. Each of them is worthy of attention. I would like to travel along this route somehow and eliminate the gaps: visit places where I have not been yet)
We arrived in Nizhny Novgorod in the evening, we specially chose a hotel near the railway station, next to the Nizhny Novgorod fair, so as not to waste too much time on the road.
The city greeted us with an icy wind and cold. It was thought how one could walk in such weather for three days. But every day the weather got better and better, and at the end of the stay, the weather was almost summer.
Leaving our things at the hotel, we immediately went for a walk, combining a walk with a search for food))
There was a Nizhny Novgorod Fair building next to us. Unfortunately, while we were in the city, the fair was closed. But the building looks very elegant.
Further on, an evening service was held in the great church of Alexander Nevsky. Microphones were placed outside, and the singing carried around the neighborhood.
Listening to the sounds of the service, we admired the beautiful views of the Embankment.
After walking a short way, we came to the arrow: the place where the Oka and Volga intersect. Special benches and benches have been installed on each shore in the Strelka area so that people can just sit and admire the views. It is clean and very comfortable.
After having dinner at some restaurant located in an old building, we went in search of the subway and drove towards the center.
As in many ancient cities, there is a historical center with pedestrian streets. One of the main ones is Bolshaya Pokrovskaya.
On the way, we passed Gorky Park. The impression is very good, starting from the well-groomed, ending with the way the park is decorated, in particular, and the city in general. Inscriptions motivating slogans. Stands dedicated to the year of the family and large families. All this made a very pleasant impression. The main street of the city was very busy. There are also musicians performing here during the day.
An interesting place is the clock tower, which rings every hour and gathers tourists. The tower was built for the arrival of Nicholas II in Nizhny Novgorod, that is, at the beginning of the 20th century.
And there is also a beautiful historical building that historically belongs to the bank.
We skipped until nightfall and then came here the next day to follow on to the Kremlin, but this will be in the next story…
