Travel along the Boulevard ring of Moscow: from Gogolevsky to Yauzsky Boulevard

Moscow always attracts with its history, and the Boulevard Ring is a space where this story lives in alleys, monuments and architecture. I invite you to walk along it with me — from Gogol Boulevard to the quiet and secluded Yauzsky. Interestingly, the boulevard ring connects different districts of Moscow. Therefore, we will also indicate them when marking the boulevard.

We traveled along the Boulevard Ring of Moscow: from Gogolevsky to Yauzsky Boulevard at the beginning of this year.

The total length of the boulevard ring is 9 km and includes 10 boulevards. Let's start in order:

Gogol Boulevard: the literary heart of Moscow (Arbat and Khamovniki districts)

Gogol Boulevard is the starting point of our route. Here, in the shade of lime trees and oaks, stands a monument to Nikolai Gogol. Interestingly, the sculpture exists in two versions: the gloomy monument by Andreev was recreated in 1909, and in 1952 a lighter one created by Tomsky was added.

Along the way, there are mansions of the XIX century, which now house museums and art galleries. Pay attention to the Pashkov House — closer to the end of the boulevard. Its architecture seems to take us back to the era of exquisite Moscow in Pushkin's time.

Nikitsky Boulevard: aristocratic OcharovRussia (Arbat district)

Nikitsky Boulevard captivates with its luxurious mansions, among which the Lopukhins' House stands out. The life of the Moscow nobility used to be in full swing here. There is a monument to Timur Frunze in the center of the boulevard, reminding of the heroic past of the city.

The historic Nikitsky Gate building still retains its original appearance, and there are cozy cafes nearby where you can make a stop.

Tverskaya Boulevard: the main promenade of the capital (Tverskoy district)

Tverskaya Boulevard is the oldest and most popular among Muscovites. Since the middle of the 19th century, it has been a favorite place for intellectuals to stroll. Here you will find a monument to Sergei Yesenin, whose image seems to come to life against the backdrop of picturesque alleys.

A walk along Tverskaya will give you a sense of celebration. Street musicians, galleries, art spaces - all this makes the boulevard dynamic and modern.

Strastnoy Boulevard: rhythm of the city (Tverskoy district)

Strastnoy Boulevard is located at the intersection of the busy streets of the capital. It got its name from the former Holy Monastery here, on the site of which the Theater of the Russian Army is now located.

Quiet squares are adjacent to modern buildings, creating a contrast between the old and the new, so characteristic of Moscow.

Petrovsky Boulevard: historical thread (Tverskoy district)

Petrovsky Boulevard offers the opportunity to enjoy the views of ancient mansions and churches. The monument to Vladimir Vysotsky, installed here, is a favorite place for fans of bard music.

The squares of this boulevard resemble small oases in the heart of a megalopolis.

Rozhdestvensky and Sretensky Boulevards: from silence to fuss (Meshchansky district)

Rozhdestvensky Boulevard leads us to the Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin, which is where its name comes from. It is quiet and peaceful here, which allows you to enjoy the beauty of nature in the city center.

Sretensky Boulevard, on the contrary, is lively. There are bars, restaurants and shops here, attracting the bustling bustle.

Chistoprudny Boulevard: reflection of the past in the water (Basmanny district)

There are famous ponds on Chistoprudny Boulevard, which are always crowded. The history of ponds is connected with the cleaning of reservoirs in the 17th century, hence their name.

The boulevard is famous for its Sovremennik theater and the Griboyedov monument, which seems to be watching every step of those passing by.

Pokrovsky Boulevard: historical inspiration (Basmanny district)

Pokrovsky Boulevard is known for its historical buildings, including 19th-century mansions, which have retained their architectural value. The boulevard is also famous for its variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, creating a lively atmosphere. Of particular interest are the monuments and green areas that make walking along Pokrovsky Boulevard pleasant and varied.

Yauzsky Boulevard: the final point (Tagansky district)

Our trip ended at Yauzsky. You can feel the breath of history here, especially at the Trinity Church in Serebryany. Yauzsky is the quietest of all the boulevards, and this is the perfect place to summarize our route.

A walk along the Boulevard Ring is a journey through time. Each boulevard holds its own secrets, and everyone is ready to tell you their own unique story.

Taking into account the entrance to the cafe, the journey took us about 4.5 hours. But we went immediately. If you go with children, you can walk more time, because there are different activities for children on many boulevards. In any case, a walk along the boulevard ring is a great cultural holiday, especially after the New Year's table).
