By Alan Dean Foster
Title: The gift of a worthless person
Genre: fiction
"... leaving this world, I will be much happier than I once thought. Having lost the ability to move, I actually did much more than in those years when I could really move. It warms the soul." - says the main character – Pearson at the end of his life.
Pearson, a loser and a criminal, crashed on an unknown planet and was defeated by paralysis. On the planet, he got acquainted with the local bug inhabitants, and with his knowledge he rendered them such an invaluable benefit that they erected a monument in his honor. The fact that the inhabitants of the planet made the planet prosperous made the main character happy.
The writer shows us that a person can always have a chance to improve and be useful, and that is why he is happy.
Friends, what do you think? Does your favorite business benefit people? If we put caring for people at the forefront of our work, will we be more effective, needed, and....happy?)
