Andrey Platonov "Yushka" - impressions about the story
There is a small, but some, in a special way, touching story "Yushka", written by Andrey Platonov in the 30s of the 20th century.
The story takes place in the 20-30s of the 20th century in Russia, in a small town. The main character of the story is Efim Dmitrievich, whom all the residents of the town called Yushka. He was a consumptive man who worked as a blacksmith's assistant. He always drank tea without sugar, walked in rags and always saved on everything. People mocked him and often offended him, throwing out their negative emotions, considered him a worthless person.
Yushka was a very kind and peaceful person, he loved nature very much. He forgave all his scoffers. Once a year, Yushka went on vacation for a month, and no one knew where and why. One day, after another mockery, he was pushed, Yushka fell and died.
After some time, a girl came to the town, who introduced herself as Yushka's adopted daughter. She was looking for him, because he did not come to her during the annual vacation. It turned out that Yushka provided accommodation and training for this girl, she graduated from the medical faculty and became a doctor.
She stayed to live and work in this town in a hospital for the consumptive, helped many patients for free. And all the people called her "Yushka's daughter".
In general, as they say, the big is seen from a distance. In fact, it was Yushka, Yefim Dmitrievich, who was the right person who brought up and educated such a beautiful daughter. A merciful and intelligent man who knows how to love and forgive. A very bright and sad story…
