Ski tour to Khibiny (Kola Peninsula)
The largest mountain range on the Kola Peninsula. The geological age of the massif is about 390 million years.
The highest point is Mount Yudychvumchorr — 1200 m above sea level. The remaining peaks are in the area of 1000-1100 m above sea level. Snow in the mountains lies from October to June. Severe frosts in winter are often combined with strong winds and humidity, which leads to rapid icing. Khibiny belongs to the middle mountains, but due to the north, high-altitude conditions develop here: at an altitude of 400-500 m above sea level, the conditions are about the same as at 2000-3000 m in the Caucasus.
Khibiny is one of the most avalanche-prone mountain regions.
