Kostroma - impressions and interesting routes for the whole family

For me, the visiting card of Kostroma will forever remain the Ipatievsky Monastery, the Volga Embankment, Kostroma streets, with significant height differences, the central Susaninskaya Square, shopping malls, where the film "Cruel Romance" was filmed, and, as in many other small towns, it is widely presented as a beauty, a fire tower)). Yes, and, of course, Ivan Susanin is one of their most famous folk heroes, a peasant from the village of Domnino (now it is the Susaninsky district of the Kostroma region). In 1613, during the Russian-Polish War, Ivan Susanin in Kostroma became famous for saving Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich from the Polish-Lithuanian detachment. When asked why the monument to Susanin stands with its back to the square, the residents, jokingly, answer: "And he is the one who greets our guests."
You can talk endlessly about the city of Kostroma. But most of all in Kostroma, I was struck by the people and the development of the city: since the beginning of the 20th century, the manufacturing industry has been very developed in Kostroma. The standard of living of people was quite high, even then many enterprises provided their workers with health insurance. As a result, Kostroma was one of the cities offering the strongest resistance to the revolution. And now Kostroma is a fairly developed tourist and manufacturing city: a textile enterprise for the production of linen products, gold jewelry, cheeses, a wide development of tourism. Such activity is remarkable and worthy of imitation.
My family and children and I traveled on foot along the following route:
1. Susaninskaya (central) square,
2. Shopping malls,
3. Monument to Ivan Susanin,
4. Monument to Lenin, located on the base of the monument of the Tsarist Dynasty,
5. The embankment of the Volga River (by the way, there is a restaurant ship on the embankment based on the film "Cruel Romance" by Eldar Ryazanov, based on the book by Nikolai Ostrovsky "The Bride". Unfortunately, we didn't get to the restaurant, we will definitely come next time).
Then by car:
6. We drove to the store at the textile factory, the choice of products surprised us: a wide variety of linen linen, towels and other things. There was also an opportunity to visit a store for the production of branded cheeses, but we had a long way to go and did not stock up on cheese. However, it is still worth buying cheese in Kostroma)).
7. The last stop in Kostroma was the Holy Trinity Ipatievsky Monastery – one of the famous Orthodox Shrines. This is an active monastery with an accessible Trinity Cathedral Church (1650-1652). In Soviet times, the temple was not operational and it took decades for the painstaking restoration of the frescoes placed on all the walls of the temple. Thanks to the restorers for their titanic work!
The overall impressions of the city were the most favorable. Surprisingly, Kostroma has its own Kremlin. This is a separate story, I will definitely plan a visit on my next trip).
Are you already planning an interesting trip to Kostroma?) Don't forget to write about your impressions later)). And good luck to you))!
