One of the most popular and central attractions of Karelia is the Transfiguration of the Savior Valaam Monastery. It was founded by monks in 1407, but according to legend, the first monks lived here in the II millennium. A huge flow of tourists and pilgrimage to the monastery is felt throughout the year, due to the legends and legends about the Apostle Andrew the First-Called. The location of the monastery can be called unique, because it is located on the island of the Valaam archipelago (Lake Ladoga).

The length of Kizhi Island is 5.5 km, the width varies up to 1.5 km.
