According to mythology, the ancient relatives of the peoples of the Kuban and the Caucasus were sleds. The sleds were heroes who fought against the forces of evil. In their free time, they traveled in search of adventures.
One beautiful young sled was named Beshtau, he had a father Elbrus and a bride Mashuk. One day Elbrus became infatuated with the young Mashuk and began to fight with his own son. During the battle, father and son killed each other. Mashuk mourned Beshtau and died, falling on the knife with which her beloved was killed.
After the death of Elbrus, Beshtau and Mashuk petrified. The Arch of Love is the place where Mashuk mourned her beloved. The blocks in the arch are her tears. Well, the mountain has tears to match it.
