Symbols of love in Russian cities

Symbols of love in Russian cities

There are people who confess their love only to each other, or those who keep these wonderful feelings deep in their hearts – without even confessing. And there are creators in our world who want to share their feelings with the whole world. Sculptors occupy a special place among them. Thanks to their emotions and experiences, cities acquire a romantic look.

I will tell you about some of the architectural compositions that I have seen while traveling around the cities.

I'll start with my native Novosibirsk. We have several interesting art objects: "Monument to the first date" and "Love".

The tender and touching "Monument to the first date" is located in the park near the main scientific library of the city, and the composition "Love" is in Pervomaisky Square.

Newlyweds are often photographed with a monument dedicated to love. And unmarried girls have a belief that if you climb through a fancy stone, you will find family happiness. This funny picture could be periodically observed while relaxing in the park. This year it was closed for reconstruction and all the art objects were removed from the territory. But the townspeople hope that at the end of the repair, their favorite monuments, which have become part of the history of Pervomaisky Square, will be returned to their place.

The charming composition "Lovers" adorns the pedestrian street of Yekaterinburg, called by the townspeople – "Uralsky Arbat". An urban legend says that the sculpture has real prototypes — students of the Architectural and art Academy Alexander and Anna.

A bright sculptural composition "Tree of Happiness" adorns the square of the Fighters of the Revolution in Tyumen. Residents and visitors of the city traveling in search of love will certainly come to him to ask for their soulmate, and lovers come in pairs to share their happiness. We came to this square together with my husband and admired the bright, bizarre tree for a long time.

I always photograph such compositions for memory. I've been looking at it for a long time. A carousel of thoughts begins to spin in my head. Who inspired the artist? What was he thinking about when sculpting, who did he dream about, who did he love?!

I just wanted to write about architectural compositions, but it turned out to be a touching material about art objects dedicated to love. What can you do with this inspiration, you never know where it will take you :)

And what monuments have you met dedicated to love? Write stories related to them in the comments, or just send photos of romantic works of art.
