New Year's capitals of Russia – a magical relay race of cities

Every year, one of the cities of Russia is transformed for the New Year in a special way, instilling the spirit of fabulousness, charming so that even an adult again wants to believe in the reality of the existence of Santa Claus with the Snow Maiden, because these are their tricks, no other way!?

Of course, the fabulous Santa Claus and his granddaughter Snow Maiden have absolutely nothing to do with it. It's just that one day, 11 years ago, a wonderful project "New Year's Capital" was born in the Ministry of Culture of Russia. And he rolled through the cities of our country, demonstrating their beauty in winter decoration. Kazan was the first, especially New Year's Eve. It was followed by Vologda, Vladimir, Sortavala, Tambov, Khanty-Mansiysk, Tula, Ryazan, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod.

And in 2023 Nizhny Novgorod passed the baton to Novosibirsk. It was then that I first learned about this good tradition. But it is rather not surprising how many interesting things happening in our vast country we do not notice in the hustle and bustle!
The New Year's capital of Russia has its own symbol and, at the same time, a "baton" - a Crystal snowflake.

Nizhny Novgorod residents created not just a snowflake for Novosibirsk residents - an openwork work of art made in filigree technique. During the celebration of the new year 2023, the symbol of the project was located on Mikhailovskaya Embankment in an ice house built especially for her!

We went there as a family, while walking along the embankment, admired both the house and the snowflake. We have also visited other atmospheric places in the Novosibirsk New Year's capital.

We regret one thing, we did not manage to get into everything.
Novosibirsk handed over the festive metropolitan relay to the city of Suzdal in the form of a unique digital snowflake. The program for its creation was developed by Novosibirsk scientists, and the whole city "painted" the delicate beauty. Special screens were installed in the center of Novosibirsk, touching which citizens and guests of the city received a unique snowflake. In the end, thousands of digital snowflakes were combined into one and solemnly handed over to the new capital.

Festive activities usually begin in the capital cities in December and end simultaneously with the New Year holidays. Therefore, you can already search the Suzdal sites for a program and plan an unforgettable trip.
By the way, Suzdal is a city that is definitely worth visiting this year not only in winter, but also in summer. Apart from the fact that it has become the New Year's Capital of Russia, in 2024 this ancient city of Russia celebrates its 1000th anniversary.
