Dreams of an icy Kungur kingdom

What do real Siberians dream about? Of course, it's about escaping from the cold and snowdrifts and ... going into the cold and into the ice! What do we need azure beaches for?! We would like to admire the splendor of the ice cave!

We have one in Russia, in the Perm Region, not far from a town called Kungur. We plan to visit it in 2024.

The Kungur ice cave is located on the outskirts of the city in the village of Filippovka. It is one of the most visited attractions of the Perm Region. The cave is more than 8 kilometers long and about 27 meters deep. This is the seventh largest natural gypsum cave in the world! Just think about it, 70 lakes and 58 caves of amazing beauty have spilled over its dark mysterious depressions.

And there were 146 tall shafts in it, which were nicknamed "organ pipes".

A special trail with a length of about one and a half kilometers is equipped for excursions, walking along it, you can admire lakes, huge ice caves (with stalactites and stalagmites illuminated in them, which are more than 10-12 thousand years old), narrow mines reaching the surface of the earth!

The end of winter is the best time to visit the Kungur cave, as with the onset of cold weather, ice crystals begin to actively grow inside it and, closer to spring, the ice decoration becomes especially impressive.

In addition to the ice cave, we are also interested in the ancient city of Kungur itself, founded in the middle of the VII century.

Many merchant mansions, churches and other architectural monuments of the past centuries have been carefully preserved in it. This small cozy town, numbering about 60 thousand people, can actually be called a large open-air museum.

I really want to see all this beauty with my own eyes. I advise you to visit this unique place too!
