Why is Yevpatoria?

Why is Yevpatoria?

It has never been possible to plan a vacation more spontaneously than this year. We went through a variety of options and never considered one – Crimea. This option seemed too far away, expensive and somehow unexplored. Everything changed in a few hours. Just yesterday I received a message from my husband: "We are going to Yevpatoria! I'm buying tickets! Are you in favor?" It turns out that at lunch with colleagues, he was too actively discussing vacation, and many people urged him to go there. I didn't even have time to think if I wanted to. Evpatoria is so Evpatoria. I'll remember where it is later. I'm running from work to the seminar. There's no time. Let there be at least something.
But now I realized that the tickets were bought, there is a place to rent.
It remains to find out what awaits us.

1. Gorgeous beaches
They write that the choice of beaches in Yevpatoria is huge, since the coastal zone stretches for as much as 45 kilometers. There are both paid sanatorium beaches and free ones available to anyone around the clock. The main thing for me is that the beaches are sandy. The sea is clean, shallow and warm, the climate is beneficial and the medical base is strong. An ideal place for a wellness holiday with your family. That's a plus.

2. Rich history
Yevpatoria is located on the western shore of the Kalamitsky Bay of the Crimean Peninsula.
Its centuries-old history began with a small ancient Greek polis.  Presumably in the III—II centuries BC, the ancient Greek city of Kerkinitida (Karkinitida) (Greek: κερκινίτις) appeared here. They even minted their own coins here. Their samples, as well as many other things, can be seen in the Museum of local lore. I will need to learn more about the history of the city, which I have not heard much about before.

3. Multiculturalism
The rich history of Yevpatoria is reflected in the sights belonging to a wide variety of peoples and cultures. Here you will have to see the monastery of the dervishes (Muslim monks), the Armenian church, the New Jerusalem complex, the synagogue, the Greek temple of Elijah, and the Turkish baths.
The ancient city was surrounded by fortress walls with five gates. Only one survived. Through them, the Crimean khans came to the city to pray at the Juma Jami mosque. You can see her too. As well as the ruins left over from the Greek city of Kerkinitida. There are so many things in one city!

4. Unusual nature.
Among the other beauty that various photos promise, it particularly attracted attention
Sasyk-Sivash is the largest salt lake in Crimea. Of course, there is therapeutic mud here, but that's not what's interesting. Firstly, the lake is only up to half a meter deep, so it is impossible to drown in it, and secondly, the lake is pink. It's all about the unusual salt, which turns the water pink. If only for the sake of the photo, I will definitely get here.

5. Modern leisure
Between swimming and exploring ancient sights, you can walk along the almost kilometer–long embankment with restaurants, cafes, visit the "House of Wine" - a new, but already popular place among tourists.  Here they promise to get acquainted with the history of the origin and development of winemaking in the Crimea. And in the tasting room, try and buy the best varieties of local wines. You can also go to the dolphinarium, water park.

There are probably a lot more interesting things waiting for us besides the above. We will be waiting for you, Yevpatoria!
