Baikal - love at first sight
Baikal - love at first sight
I saw the Black Sea, strolled along the Mediterranean coast. But I have never felt such delight as I felt when looking at the endless expanse of Lake Baikal on the seas. This lake is special, among the majestic mountains and trees it is no less majestic.
We went to Lake Baikal during our vacation in the ancient Siberian city of Irkutsk. We admired it in a beautiful place near the village of Listvyanka. It is 70 kilometers from Irkutsk. Gazelles and buses run daily from the city to Listvyanka. You can take a taxi, but it's very expensive, in the region of three thousand one way.
Tourists often go to Listvyanka for several days at once to slowly admire the beauty of the place and "breathe in" Lake Baikal. We decided to organize a one-day trip. Therefore, we left Irkutsk early in the morning on the very first gazelle and an hour later we were already there.
The plan was to look at the lake from the mountain and listen to the splash of water while walking along the pebbly shore. But since we arrived early, and the lifts to the mountain start working only at 10.00, we spent time at the Baikal Museum. And we liked it. We learned a lot about this wonderful lake, its inhabitants, and even traveled through its depths wearing virtual reality glasses.

A resident of Lake Baikal is haplochromis cornflower
And we also met two wonderful seals Umka and Businka. How cute and funny they are! There is a separate seal garden in the village of Listvyanka. If you go there for a few days, be sure to visit it. Children's delight will be provided.
The day of our trip turned out to be clear. The bright sun, spreading its rays over the lake surface of Lake Baikal, made this boundless lake brilliantly beautiful. It is worth living to admire its beauty from a mountain peak.
Baikal and snowflakes
You can watch and admire in silence for a very, very long time. At some point, the atmosphere of the observation deck became fabulously beautiful. Snowflakes began to sparkle in the rays of the bright winter sun. No clouds, no clouds, no wind. Only the sun, gilding everything around, a floating lake and shimmering snowflakes. These pictures will definitely be etched into your memory as moments of absolute happiness.
Baikal is inspiring
By the way, it is in the Listvyanka area that you can clearly see how the water soars. It never freezes. Baikal here collides with the source of the Angara River and its strong currents raise the warm waters of the lake to the surface, which is why this part of it is not covered with ice.
Soaring Baikal
There is such an idea about Siberia that bears roam the streets here. And if for large cities the appearance of a bear in their territory is nonsense, then for small towns of the region it is a reality. They saw a corresponding sign and a warning sign in Listvyanka. It's about how to behave when meeting a clubfoot.
Watch out, bears!
After descending from the mountain, we took a taxi to the bus station in Listvyanka, bought tickets for a large, comfortable bus and, while waiting for departure, walked along the shore of Lake Baikal.
Clear water
The transparency and purity of the water amazed me. This is also the magic of the lake. Listening to the measured splash of water kissing the coastal pebbles, you just want to look into the distance at the sunny path and rejoice at who knows what.
A sunny path
