Interesting facts about the first computer games

The debate about what should be called the very first computer game in the world does not subside to this day. Most sources agree that the game based on the Bertie the Brain video or an analogue of Tic Tac Toe is considered the ancestor. It was presented to the general public at the national exhibition in Canada, the slot machine was four meters high and gathered around it a lot of people who wanted to compete in ingenuity with artificial intelligence.
However, "Tic Tac Toe" did not quite meet the modern definition of a video game, so "Tennis for Two", which was developed in 1958 by one of the inventors of the nuclear bomb, William Higinbotham, is truly the first in this regard. He deeply regretted his involvement in the creation of weapons of mass destruction and directed all his erudition in a peaceful direction. Tennis for Two captured the full attention of the public who came to visit the exhibition at which it was presented. The queue of those wishing to play a game with a smart machine did not end, and the fame of such entertainment spread throughout all scientific circles.
In the period from the late 50s and almost all of the 60s, the development of the gaming industry slowed down, the attention of scientists returned to it only a decade later. The first commercial game was Spacewar in 1971, which was created by programmers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The game was a battle of two space rockets against the background of the starry sky, players could control their ships using a joystick and a small keyboard. It was already possible to shoot Spacewar with a limited supply of ammo and dodge enemy attacks.
